A Journey of Collaboration and Growth at Morean by Guillermo Hedzko

Introduction

In this article, I will share my experience working on a project with Invertiplus, a client seeking to develop a platform for dollar exchange and investment in MEP dollars and CEDEARs for mobile devices. As a developer at Morean, I have had the opportunity to participate in an interesting and challenging project that tested our skills and fostered a collaborative environment.

Beginning of the Project and Framework Selection

The project began in 2020 when Invertiplus hired Morean and entrusted their team to develop the mobile platform. The developers of the first team, who worked on the application, chose React Native as the framework.

During the period from 2020 to 2021, the project was completed and presented to the client, but it was never published. Instead, Invertiplus continued to grow their website, adding new functionalities.

Resuming the Project and Updates

In April 2022, I was assigned to continue the project, which needed to incorporate all the updates that the client’s web application had experienced. One of the new features to be added was the ability to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, further expanding the platform’s capabilities. By October 2022, together with Salvador Palmiciano, a senior developer, and Leandro Bianchi, a junior developer, we managed to complete the updates, including support for cryptocurrencies and published the app on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Redesign and Reconstruction of the Application

However, the client was not satisfied with the aesthetics of the application and hired a designer to redesign it. From November to February, together with Leandro Bianchi and a new junior collaborator, Napoleon Devesa, we faced the titanic task of rebuilding the application. During this phase, we decided to apply the SOLID principles, a set of five software design and architecture principles that improve code quality and maintainability.

By applying the SOLID principles, we were able to improve the application’s architecture, facilitate the onboarding of new developers to the project, and increase code quality. Additionally, we incorporated TypeScript and unified criteria in the reconstruction process.

Success and Continuity of the Project

The publication of the new version was a success, and currently, more than 3,000 users use it. The application has proven to be a valuable tool for users, and we have received positive feedback from both the client and end-users. At present, we are working on incorporating new features, such as the possibility of investing in Mutual Funds, which will further expand the platform’s capabilities and improve users’ experience. Our commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction has enabled us to maintain a strong and productive relationship with Invertiplus, ensuring the ongoing success of the project.

Conclusion

My experience with the Invertiplus project has been an enriching journey of collaboration and personal growth at Morean. Throughout the challenges we faced and the solutions we implemented, I have acquired valuable lessons and had the privilege of collaborating with talented professionals in the field of software development. This project has demonstrated how outsourcing and teamwork can lead to success in mobile application development and how our company, Morean, makes a difference in the world of technology.

Applying the SOLID principles during the reconstruction of the application proved to be a wise decision, as it allowed us to deliver a high-quality and easily maintainable product. Furthermore, the experience has reinforced the importance of adapting to circumstances and being proactive in seeking effective solutions.

I would like to express special thanks to Salvador Palmiciano, who has been a great mentor throughout the process. His guidance and support have been crucial to our collective success and my personal growth as a developer. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of this project and look forward to contributing to Morean’s success in future initiatives.
